| Mari and Paul at the sign for entering the Badlands. Paul just escaped from University of Chicago Law School and was going a big road trip. He gave us root beer, string cheese, toothbrushes, and toothpaste. (His mom is a dental hygienist and had loaded him up.) |

Daily 31.9 Total: 1834.5 miles. The whole day was spent on a scenic tour of the Badlands, on hwy 240. Fantastic!! We took many photos. We met Paul, an upcoming law student graduate from Chicago who offered cold drinks and snacks. We met a couple who offered oranges, and we met several other people. Camped, as it was 60 miles to further services.
