Day 11 (5/20/12) to Winchester State Park, Idaho

Terry riding from Lewiston, Idaho.

At the Lewiston Fairgrounds. Rodeo time!  Just happened to be biking by so we stopped in. Every one was warming up.

Warm up time at the rodeo at Lewiston Fairgrounds.  Fun to just be biking by and getting to see some rodeo action.

Poppies before Winchester Road.  Considered drugging ourselves before the steep climb.

"Papa Mike on a Trike"   Great touring recumbent.

Maybe there's a recumbent bike in Mari's future

Mari's already beat, and hasn't even started going up Winchester Road.

Falcon?

Falcon?

Winchester Road view.  It wasn't as hard this year as it was last year, mainly because it was 20 degrees cooler. It's a steep one.

Sharon!  Our water woman from last year, and she happened to drive to the road as we took another break at her driveway. We introduced ourselves and said that she had been our angel last year with lemonade.  She invited us in, and gave us more lemonade, and roast beef sandwiches too.  We told her about warmshowers.org and she was very interested. She's right on the Lewis and Clark bike route.

Ron and Bogie. Bogie is 15 yrs old, and like most teenagers, he likes speed. Ron said that Bogie likes to perch on Ron while Ron drives at high speeds, and Bogie sticks his head out the window. Bogie was talking to us but we couldn't understand him.

Alpaca?

Terry's still smiling on Winchester Road.

He may look dead from the zinc on his face, but he's actually alive.

Winchester Road farm.

Winchester, Idaho.  The population sign said 308.  Is that for real?     Winchester, 308.
Daily: 43.5 miles. Total: 543.6 miles. Our steepest hill this side of Yellowstone. The hill was a 5 hour ride, starting after lunch. Elevation: 3761 ft.
